Dr. Osayame Ekhaguere

Dr. Ekhaguere was born in Nigeria and had his medical training and part of his post graduate training in Nigeria. Having worked in both rural and urban medical centers, he has a deep understanding of the medical burden faced by developing countries. His research interests focuses on improving global health, particularly in developing countries. In preparation for this task, he obtained a masters degree in Public Health (MPH) with a focus in Health Management and Policy. During this period, he participated in clinical research pertaining to prematurity under the mentorship of Dr Jeffery C. Murray. He helped foster the Nigerian Preterm Birth Study – a research collaboration between tertiary institutions in Nigeria and University of Iowa. He continues to work on building collaborations between institutions in Nigeria and the United State. He is co-founder and director of medical affair for HealthCare Trends.  Healthcare Trend is an organization that aims to use mHealth to address deficiencies of health care utilization in Nigeria. The organization creates and measures integrated solutions for healthy births, growth and development. He is presently a clinical fellow in the division of neonatal and perinatal medicine at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. His long term research goal is to be actively involved in health care development in Africa, translating evidence based care in a culturally acceptable form.
